Marianella Pirzio Biroli Sclavi

Professor of Ethnography and Art of Listening at the Polyitechnic University, Milano. My background is as a sociologist, but I have being teaching Art of Listening, Emotional Self-Awareness and Creative Conflict Management at the Politechnic University, Milano, for at least the last ten years. I landed on this kind of studies through a critical approach to ethnography: on the one hand I have been always convinced that if we want to understand the dynamics of a good communication, we must take a successful intercultural communication as a point of departure. On the other hand, I began with two principal insights: first, intelligence concerns the ability to observe complex events through a process akin to the dynamics of humour. Second, the dynamics of humor can elicit a deeper appreciation of the cognitive input of emotions.
